I am having some issues with traffic coming through my switches.
I recently purchased several Netgear gs748ts switches because I have had pretty decent success with the netgear gs724 switch and my dept has always used netgear.
The switches do fine routing "normal" traffic through them but I have a thin client subnet that uses PXE to boot to an LTSP server and when I create a vlan for this network and attempt to boot a client I get nothing.
I put them on a "dumb" switch (which is where they have been for 8 yrs) and they work fine. Connect them to the 724 and they work fine. Connect them to the 748 and no go. I have tried a separate vlan, factory reset on the switch and upping the firmware to 5.2.0.8 all no dice.
I mirrored the port that the client was on and I can see the DHCP request being made and after 5 attempts the PXE on the client gives up (no control as to increasing or decreasing attempts). I mirrored the port when connected to the 724 and it gets a response after 1 attempt.
What could be blocking this?
Also just for more fun I have a few clients that use an etherboot card and they work just fine in all three scenarios (dumb, 24 and 48).
Any suggestions?
Thanks
