Port-forwarding with RV042G and SG500XG-8F8T

I need to forward ports for server access in our network. The RV042G is my edge router and is connected to the SG500XG-8F8T. The RV is 10.250.0.20/24 connected to VLAN 250 on the SG whose interface for that VLAN is 10.250.0.1/24. I need to forward to the server on VLAN 20, whose interface is 10.20.0.1/16. The server is at 10.20.0.100.

So say TCP port 636 for example. I have the return routes configured already for the VLAN and the VLAN has edge access (internet). So for the forwarding on the RV, I was thinking I need to forward to the SG interface on that VLAN (636>>10.250.0.1). I just don't know how to forward the SG to the server, or if I even did the first thing right. How do I go about this? Thanks!

Network Access Control

I need to implement a solution where by if anyone plugs any new device into a wall network socket; it gets denied access or the administrator gets intimation. We have 200 PCs and 25 Laptops on wifi and 15 people who use Mobiles for connecting into network.

We have 10 Cisco Linksys SRW2024 manageable switches which are used to connect wired devices.

In addition there are  Dlink Wireless Access Points.

I believe that this feature is available in Windows Server 2012.

Can anyone guide me as to how one could implement a solution

Multiple public IP addresses with DirectAccess

Good afternoon folks.

I've a query relating to the use of multiple static public IP addresses and also with DirectAccess, so please bear with me..

I'm wanting to use DA in a two NIC Edge configuration (no NAT) to avoid the use of IP-HTTPS and as such have purchased a block of static public IP addresses (four in total).  I have a basic NAT vdsl gateway/router (172.x.x.x)  for one network segment (standalone web server) and a Sophos XG router for the AD network (192.x.x.x).

My networking knowledge is basic and I require some assistance as to how I can get two public IP addresses, with NO NAT in between, on the second DA NIC.

Any opinions on hardware to replace my basic consumer grade gateway to achieve this would also be welcome.

running coax through cat 6

I've just undertaken the task of running a few lengths of cat-6 to (nearly) each room of my house, meeting at a patch panel up in the office.

My question is, I've got virgin broadband which runs a coax cable through to the router from a box outside, my understanding is that i should be able to run the coax signals through the cat-6 in the walls and patch it to the back of the router/tv boxes. however i'm struggling to find any sort of information regarding how to pull this off. I've seen a few cheap adapters and some which are 20x the price.

Has anyone had any sort of luck doing something similar or have any tips on how to pull it off?

Server Causing High Ping For Entire Network

So here is a very strange issue that I cannot track down. I have a client that started having some internet issues. The ping was insane, usually around 3000ms, so they were barely able to use the internet. Unplugging the server from the network fixed the issue. So I started looking at the server, which is their domain controller and primary dns, and tried all sorts of things, swapping to the secondary nic, reinstalling drivers, restarted the dns service, etc, but no change. Upon reboot, things go back to normal, and typically for most of the day. The next morning though, things are back to high ping times. I've been rebooting the server once a day while I search for the solution, but I am not finding one. If you have any advice it would be much appreciated.

Free windows server monitoring tool

We are looking for some kind of software we can use to have our servers alert us if there is a component failure in the server, RAM, HDD, CPU get past some point for some period of time. Another thing is monitoring the temperature, etc too. I saw the spiceowrks monitor, but that seemed more like RAM, CPU, etc.

Nagios may do, but the core version may be a bit too cumbersome for us to deal with. Most of the systems are Dell but it looks like the main Dell product for this is Dell open monitor and looks like it is using IDRAC. We don't have IDRACs enabled except for one server at a remote site. Maybe it is worth setting up the other IDRACs even though the server room is like 15 feet away. The only way I know to setup IDRAC is to reboot the server and take 5 minutes to setup the IDRAC in the BIOS. A few of our servers are lower end too and...

network path was not found when joining the domain

I am in need of help fixing this issue. I am currently using Windows Server 2003, I created a domain from the server and testing it to join the domain to a local computer. I tried to do most of the stuff that I find in google, spiceworks, youtube, etc., but no luck of fixing it. Here what I tried so far:

- Disabling firewall

- DC pointing to DNS

- TCP/IP NETBIOS enabled

- Able to ping the Server from the local computer

P.S I am currently a practicum student, so please, bear with me. :)

pfSense routing question

I have a issue I can't seem to wrap my mind around.  I have 2 pfsense boxes (1 local and 1 remote) connected via an IPSec tunnel.  I have setup a VLAN on the remote box but want to be able to access it from my local network.  I don't know if I am just being stupid but I cannot figure out how to set up a route locally so I can access the VLAN.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

L3 Switch(with Intervlan) connecting to Router

Hello Guys,

I configure Aruba 2930F with Intervlan routing and configure ip routing, setup static route :

ip routing

vlan 1 : ip address 10.10.31.65 255.255.255.0

vlan 50: ip address 10.110.50.1 255.255.255.0

Vlan 51 : ip address 10.110.51.1 255.255.255.0

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.10.1.1 (router interface)

then on router i configure one port with IP 10.10.1.1 255.255.255.0 , no shutdown.

Then i configure static routes on router, ip route 10.110.50.0 255.255.255.0 10.10.31.65

ip route 10.110.51.0 255.255.255.0 10.10.31.65

I can not ping Router ip from switch and switch from router. ?

I am confuse the port that connected from switch to router should be trunk configured or access ?

24 port managed switch under 200€ for home use

Hello,

I am looking mostly for ideas, as I am about to buy a managed gigabit switch for home use / lab. I know the budget is quite a strict one, therefore used / refurbished switches are very welcome.

Required features: CLI access, dot1x and MAB

Welcome features: L3 capabilities, TACACS+

Some of them are a little overkill for home switch, but it will be used as a further learning tool, I am not listing thing such as VLAN or SNMP as I find them to be the basics of managed switches. Also no POE is needed.

So far, I am inclined to go with one of 3 options: new ES24-Lite or used Cisco SG300 or 3750G, but as I said I am looking for further ideas.

Mesh Network with OpenWrt , Clients can not ping each other

I am building WiFi mesh network using Openwrt 802.11s and Tp Link wr703n mini routers for my final year project. OLSR is running as routing protocol.I am using Linux

Total of 4 routers

LAN IP Adress Mac Mesh IP Adress ----------------------------------------------- Node A 192.168.10.1 AO 192.168.5.1 Node B 192.168.11.1 6E 192.1685.2 Node C 192.168.12.1 42 192.1685.3 Node D 192.168.13.1 54 192.1685.4

Above you can see the Lan IP adress and the mesh addresses each router. So X client is connected to Node A with a cable and node a assigned ip adress of 192.168.10.100 Y client is connected to D and assigned the ip adresses of 192.168.13.50.

When I try to ping X from Y I cant not ping. Also I cannot ping the mesh ip addresses as well in from the operating system terminal

but when i am logged in the openwrt via terminal i am able to ping any...

NLA Issues

Greetings to the well of knowledge...

I have a Server 2016 system that is hosting two VMs, a terminal server and a RDS Licensing server. These servers had been behaving up until four days ago when we began experiencing connectivity issues logging in.

I can login as the domain administrator but it seems to take forever for me to get to the desktop. My mapped drives are marked as disconnected. When I try to open them, Windows prompts me for credentials, then fails to open the drives.

The common denominator is that they are both VMs running on the same physical server.

Looking at the administrative events log, I see almost a constant stream of DNS Event 8015:

The system failed to register host (A or AAAA) resource records (RRs) for network adapter
with settings:

Adapter Name : {073759DF-FE54-4FD0-B209-B917A2E31075}

Ethernet Private Line Setup

Hi Spiceheads,

I need a bit of guidance. We are looking at getting an Ethernet Private line between our office in Pittsburgh and our office in New York. I have never set anything like this up before and was wondering if anyone has had any experience. I only want to use this for transferring files between the 2 sites and nothing else. I have separate internet for internet access. Please advise. Thanks!

I have a schedule power outage by the local utility company for 8 hours. My network has APC smart ups SMX3000 with 8 additional batteries. I will be shutting down all network and server related equipment.
Do you shut down the ups along with everything else or leave it on during the power outage.

Network Planning - Feedback

Some of you may remember my post a few days ago where my boss wants a big flat network.

First, thanks to everyone to replied and gave advice. I think I've convinced him that we need to bring in an MSP/consultant on this. I'm also pretty sure the consultant will agree that a big, flat layer 2 network is a bad idea.

In anticipation of that - I'm trying to plan for two scenarios:

One big /8A logically separated network w/ routers per site

I think my layout would work for both. I've never done any network design (without an engineer) and was looking for feedback as to how bad this layout would be in either scenario.

I realize none of you are obligated to even look at this - so I want to say I appreciate everyone here.

Creating a trunk port on HPE officeconnect 1920s

Hi, I have an 8 port HPE Officeconnect 1920s switch on which I would like to create 2 trunk ports (port 7 and port 8) and they need pass VLAN1 and VLAN40

As this switch does not have CLI, where in the web interface can I change the port type to trunk so I can attach VLAN1 and VLAN40?

It's a basic thing, and I don't seem to be able to find this...
