I'm having a very strange issue at the school I work in with a selection of clients one of my network switches (Netgear GS-748T).
Every now and again I get called to look at machines that can't log on due to inaccessible PDC, when I log on to the local account, the machine has a failed IP address (169.254.x).
It does not affect all clients on this switch just select ones at random, but when it happens its usually a few at a time.
This only occurs in one room (ICT Suite), this is the location of the PDC which is linked to the switch, this then up-links to a second switch (Same Model) feeding the rest of the school and wireless from a third POE switch. Clients connecting via the these switches are unaffected.
I can only resolve this with a hard reset of the switch.
NB. This Issue existed prior to the WiFi installation.
