We have a windows 2003 server running DHCP , DNS, DC, and AD, and a Netgear gigabit rated firewall with a Canon copier shared on the network. The firewall is setup as the default gateway. From the copier we can ping the DHCP server with a good response, but cannot ping the default gateway with a good response. If you connect to the same network patch cable that feeds the copier with a laptop you can ping both DHCP, and the default gateway with a good response. We can ping, and log into the copier remote interface using the copy machine IP address, and we can print to the copier from a PC. The problem is that we are not able to print from any Mac / apple computer on the network. We had been able to print from the apple machines in the past prior to rearranging our DHCP assignment, and replacing some network switches. The static IP address of the copier remained the same, but we lost print capabilities for the apple gear. Any ideas on the best way to see if the ping issue has anything to do with the problem, or maybe it is an Active Directory problem? Any input on narrowing down the problem would be helpful. Thanks for you thoughts...
P.S. I can't say that I am as well at working with apple as with a pc, but need to work this out.
