I have been struggling to find a PXE solution for sometime so I thought I would post what I have going on and see if anyone has any ideas. I have 60 locations across the US that I need to be able to image computers at. There are no servers at any of these locations. All servers and "Core infrastructure" is housed in our headquarters including my WDS PXE server. I have Riverbeds at each location that cache my applications and images. The Riverbeds work great and I can image a PC with full load in about 40 minutes. The problem is that is that if one of those computers PXE boots back to headquarters it takes 1-2 hours to download the boot file before the computer will image. In about 18 locations right now I have tftpd32 setup and computers PXE to those. That works wonderful and solves my issue except for that I can't figure out a way to password protect the boot process so computers don't image themselves if they boot to PXE first by accident. Yes a couple computers have done that :) and it made for happy end users. lol. Does anyone have any suggestions?
