I work at home, and have a sonicwall TZ 200 that acts as the main router, i.e., the one attached to my cable modem. Up to now, I've had both my work machines and my family's machines all part of the same subnet (192.168.9.X). I would like to move my family's machines behind a DLink DIR 601, in a new subnet (192.168.10.X) so I can control content and access better (and not pay for sonicwall's premium content filtering). Further, I was planning on using 1 of my network cards to attach to the sonicwall lan (as it already does), and then have the second card connect to the lan behind the DLink, thus allowing me to connect to/share with machines on both networks. (Attached is what I'm going for.) I have plugged an internet cable into my sonicwall in the X2 position, and that cable then goes to the WAN port on the DLink. I added an interface (under Network/Interfaces) to the sonicwall that looks like this:
Name Zone IP Address Subnet Mask IP Assignment Status
X2:V10 LAN 192.168.10.1 255.255.255.0 Static VLAN Sub-Interface
On the DLink, I have set it up with it's WAN as DHCP client. I am currently testing by connecting my laptop as a dhcp client. The DLink is getting an IP from the sonicwal, and the laptop gets an IP from the Dlink machine, in the right subnet (192.168.10.X) but it cannot see out to the internet.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm guessing it's something on the sonicwall, but I'm not a network expert, so I'm out of my element with this.
Any help would be appreciated
