Ha here's a fun one for you guys.
This issue has been going on for a while before I started here and now it's my responsibility. Basically the factory downstairs want a single PC to be able to connect to the label printer via Wireless. So they opted to use a print server. After setting up the PrintServer, and adding all the software and drivers on the PC nothing happened. By that I mean the wireless picked up all the other networks around, and even another Print Server in the factory apart from this specific Print Server.
So my first step was to get the wireless setup which is working now. I can ping the PrintServer and there is no packet loss. There is communication apparently.
The PC is an XP system, and is not on the network itself, so a wireless dongle has been used which is a Netgear N150. This has been tested and works fine
The print server itself is a Dynamode WL-PS-1P(I think) has been configured with a static IP, and has been put into ad hoc mode so no security is needed for now.
The label printer is a Tec B-452 and seriously old! Within the drivers I set up the port to the PrintServer IP, and followed the instructions given.
At the moment when asked to Print it gets stuck in the queue and eventually we get an error.
My assumption is the Printer server can't communicate with the printer.
At the moment everything is in the factory, so I am going to bring the printer up and try to get it setup up on PC we have that we brought in the same batch as the factory PC, I think the only difference would be it may have a few more updates to XP....I refuse to leave the room until I get this working haha. this will also give me a chance to start from scratch and reset the PrintServer.
So any helps ideas tips, anything would be much appreciated! :-D
PS networking isn't my strong point hence the frustration... programming is more my thing.
