So I have been struggling with this for awhile.
We replaced a core switch with a new one earlier in the year. All the settings/config are the same. Same VLANS, same port assignments etc...
After the swap, about 3/4 of our HP printers can't communicate outside of the VLAN. You can ping, web and print if you are on the same VLAN as the printers but not if you are on a different VLAN.
We use Windows Print servers so the queues are sitting on them. The print servers are on a different VLAN. So the printers aren't communicating with the queues.
Computers (desktops, laptops etc..) that are on the same VLAN as those printers work just fine. In fact, most of the printers are in the same room switch (dumb, 8-port Netgears) as the computers.
I have 8 other sites that have the same setup, just on different VLANs. Even the same core switch. No issues.
I'm stumped.
