Unable to ping Client Pc

Hi There,

I've got a puzzling problem which I've never seen before.

I've inherited a remote office that, in the past, has been poorly managed. Over time I've been bringing the network up to speed. Today I find myself wanting to get onto a particular machine.

The issue is that, while logged onto the server, I can ping any machine I like on the LAN except one . Yet, it can ping the server.

Here's what's happened:

I remote into the DC. I notice I can't access the target PC's administrative shares so I ping it.

I cannot ping the Client PC.
I phone the user.

I check with them, the machine is on and they're not having any network browsing problem. They can ping the server.

According to Ipconfig the ip address is correct (incl. Subnet) and DNS is pointing at the server.

So I am left scratching my head. If I am logged onto the server (and as a domain admin) why is it I can't ping this machine - and yet it can ping me?

I'm perplexed.

I should also note that while I am in Edinburgh they are in Inverness so hopping into a car and taking a look at the machine is not easy.
