We have a couple Cisco 200 switches in our LAN. I have noticed when I send large amounts of data across the network. Pings time out intermittently during the transfer. Is this normal in a LAN environment? I will generally see all <1 MS pings but have random pings reach 50+ ms or time out.
I fear our network guy incorrectly configured the 2 switches. Only around 15 ports on each switch are actually in use. The other remaining ports are still hot.
I came across this when attempting to troubleshoot a network receipt printer that will on occasion wait 10+ minutes before the receipt is printed. We've had it sent in to manufacturer as they called it a bad NIC, however, we are still having problems. Now I fear its our network.
