It definitely is not an ideal situation, but we have older Windows installs that I would like associated with an older version of Windows Server and the newer machines running 7 to look to our 2008 R2 machine. I have read that it is not possible to use DHCP on these networks though. My question is that would it be possible to leave the newer R2 machine on DHCP and not enable that server role for the older Windows Server install and be fine? The older machine is to basically test some Active Directory features anyway.
