OK—I’ve got a real mystery on my hands. Any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated.
I’ve got a remote subnet that’s connected via a Watchguard XTM branch office VPN. From my local subnet, I can successfully ping various occupied host IPs on the remote subnet, which is pretty much what I would expect.
On this remote subnet there is a particular IP with a network printer on it. I can successfully ping this IP from various systems on both subnets, BUT—when I try to ping it from a particular system on my local subnet (the computer that’s running Spiceworks, as it happens), there is no response.
I’ve tried flushing ARP and rebooting the system to no avail. I’ve also tried a Wireshark trace, but I really don’t see anything useful in the results. When I ping 192.168.1.10 I see four requests and four replies in the trace, but when I ping the “bad” address (192.168.1.9), I see four requests, and that’s it.
Suffice it to say I’m stumped. Can anybody point me toward something I might be missing here?
Many thanks.
Joe
