Hello,
I have been tasked with setting up a new network, separate from our main network, for our new security cameras. We have purchased a Cisco SG500 and two SF-300s to implement this. Now, about a year ago we had a Cisco consultant setup one of the SF-300s. Looking at the GUI..he setup VLAN 40 for all the camera ports. Then he set up port G28 and left a note "Uplink to network G28" So ports 1-26 are set to "access" and VLAN 40. Port 28 is set to "access" and VLAN 1. I am assuming I need to configure VLAN 40 on our core switch and to the port I am going to connect to. I tried a few things but when I plug a camera in to the sg500, it still won't communicate with our DHCP server. Clear as mud? Here is a crude diagram of what we are trying to do.
So the SG500 and SF300's will have the cameras plugged into them, to keep their traffic off of our main network.
