We just deployed a Sonicwall TZ 215 and upgraded our switch to the netgear 24 port GS724Tv3. My sonicwall was configured by a certified tech from firewalls.com. Everything seems to be working on that front. My new netgear switch seems to be causing the issues. This is a retail business with 5 POS systems running XP at the moment on a 10.1.5.X and we have 4 back office computers running win 7 on a 10.1.6.X admin network and 1 server 2008r2 just acting as a file server with mapped drives. We also have 3 sonicpoints setup on 2 separate 172.168.1.X one for guest and one for employees. In the netgear switch I had to tag 2 of the ports so the sonicwall could connect to the sonicpoints (both sonicpoint are connected to dummy switches)
Day 2: Everything went to hell none of the computer could use the POS software. They could use the internet and see each other on the network but couldn't connect to the mapped POS drive on on the server, They would try to boot up but froze before the login prompt, so I rebooted everything and mapped the drives again thinking it was a fluke. It worked fine for a few hours and then it stopped communicating again. I called our POS tech and he in turn called his companies networking tech. They looked at everything for about 2 hours and couldn't figure it out. After that call I read through the logs on the server and workstations and realized that a DHCP 192.168.1.X network was running and it was the netgear switch. Anyways disabled that and everything was working all day Sunday. Today I receive calls stating that some back office computers cannot connect to receive merchandise with the POS software. I'm not sure what I'm missing any suggestions would be helpful...
