When to use a layer 3 switch

I understand the concept of a layer 2 switch vs a layer 3 switch.  I am hooking up 200+ ipads for a school.  My guess that will generate a lot of DHCP broadcasting traffic.  Knowing that layer 3 switches will prevent broadcasting should I create a VLAN using the switch just for the wireless devices or will the traffic generated not have much impact on the network and just stick with a layer 2 switch?  Please feel free to add your own suggestions.  Thanks.
