Quick question, I hope... and I am pretty sure that I have it figured out but would like a second (or third, or fourth) opinion.
We have an HP Proliant G5 server with dual NICs, but the previous IT guy never had them set up in a team. The NIC currently has a static IP (no problem there... we'll say the address is 192.168.2.5). I want to use the other NIC as well and team them (HP has their NIC teaming setup) for better throughput and backup image writing to my NAS.
Is setting up the team as simple as it looks? Namely:
1) Deassign the static IP on the NIC and use DHCP
2) Connect the 2nd NIC to the network
3) Allow the domain to assign IPs to each NIC
4) Run the HP NIC teaming software to team the NICs
5) Re-assign the static IP to the teamed NIC - 192.168.2.5
Should be completely invisible to my users, correct (when I do it after hours, that is... LOL)? And it normally should take less than 5 minutes?
