Easy to configure infrastructure monitoring tool

Hi,

As per the title, have any of you come across a network monitoring tool that's simple to configure and maintain?

We use Spiceworks, but I'm looking for something in addition that will notify us pretty sharpish when servers are down etc. It would be good to have some kind of reporting function as well, so I can display some stats to our directors such as server uptime.

Recently we've had issues with emails not being delivered from our Websense server to Exchange, so something that we could configure to flag us of this kind of issue would be useful.

My initial investigation into a monitoring tool brought my attention to the likes of Nagios. But more digging seems to indicate that Nagios can be a nightmare to configure and maintain.. almost a job in itself. I know the more complicated packages are also probably the most flexible, but I don't feel we need anything to full-on.

Cheers.

Mark
