Hi, just wondering on the communities thoughts. We are wanting to upgrade from a consumer grade firewall to something a little better. We have narrowed it down to either a Juniper SSG 20 or a Watchguard XTM 330/26.
I'm more familiar with Juniper and I like their interface better, so I'd prefer to go with a Juniper over a Watchguard, however we don't have budget for the Juniper SSG 140. So, I guess my question is, do you think the SSG20 provides enough throughput for a typical office of around 35 users? We have e-mail in the cloud on Office 365, website hosted elsewhere, and backups going to Carbonite, pretty basic stuff. Firewall is not to do any internal routing, so the only traffic hitting it would be to/from the Internet.
Stats from vendor spec pages are as follows:
SSG 20 Throughput: 160 Mbps (large packets), 90 Mbps (IMIX)
XTM 26 Throughput: : 540 Mbps
XTM 330 Throughput: 1.4 Gbps
I realize this is incomplete information, but based on an average office of 35 users, do you think I would be regretting the Juniper from a performance standpoint, or are the others just overkill?
