A little help with some router logs

Hello everyone.

This question is going to be a little bit different.

A friend of mine has had his house broken into recently, while he was away on vacation, sometime between the 5th and 9th of July. Thinking of how I might help, I decided to look through the router logs, maybe something could be there. He has a cable modem / wireless router combo from a local ISP, based on theCompal CH7465LG. Here's the device info:

How do you decide whether to use POE vs POE+ switches? Is it worth investing in POE+ switches rather than just POE switches?

On-Site Hardware Needed to Build Network from Scratch with All Servers in Cloud

My service-sector startup is preparing to raise our Series A to scale operations to additional states, and increase the headquarters team from 20 to 170; while providing all the necessary resources and support for the headcount increase and added business.

This will include upgrading from our shared co-working space, to an actual commercial lease and build-out of new office space; and a pseudo-enterprise-grade IT/UC/Data network for both our headquarters and an out-of-state branch office. That said, our intention is to design our IT operations and data center around a full/complete-public cloud solution (i.e. IaaS through MS Azure with DC through Azure ADDS, PaaS through MS Azure, and SaaS through a variety of different software vendors), with absolutely NO on-premise servers in either our headquarters or out-of-state branch office...

I have a VPN configure between Site A and B

A is my Site where i have an ASA 1120 Firewall.  Communication between sites are working properly.

is it possible to only disable the natting for 2 IPs?

Windows OS, Unknown Gateway Taking Over My Routes

I have anunknown gateway that takes over my wireless interface either at reboot or at periods of inactivity. My wireless will show as "Connected - No Internet". I do not know the source of these IP's. The red box is what's causing the problem but the orange boxes are unknown IP's as well.

I can reset the gateway by removing these unknown IP's using:

route DELETE 192.168.80.0
route DELETE 192.168.80.128
route DELETE 192.168.126.0
route DELETE 192.168.126.2
route DELETE 192.168.126.128
route DELETE 192.168.126.255
route DELETE 0.0.0.0

My gateway is 192.168.10.1 and everything listed in the photos for the 192.168.10.x subnet belongs to me. Performing Route Deletes is only a temporary fix until the next reboot or sleep or hibernation. I would like to permanently keep those unknown IP's out of my routing table but if I can't source it then the next...

Can't access one website.

I have a weird issue, I have a customer who can't access only one website scdmvonline.com the only change on their network was from the ISP they went from a dynamic ip address to a static ip address.  I have changed DNS from the ISP's to Googles and even tried Verizon's, with no luck.  I can't ping the website but can't access all other websites and email they use for work with no issues.  Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

please tell me if my network design works.

PCS in vlan1 should be around 10~15 and PCS in vlan2 should be around 5.
PCS in vlan2 should not be able to access to the internet but they should use the printer and file server.
Please advise if this is possible. if not, I'd appreciate it if you recommend a network design for this.
Thanks very much in advance for your help.

How does a router configure two IP ranges?

Hello Everyone,

While I was just thinking about the VLAN configuration, I came across a section that I can't fully understand.

Let's say I have a managed switch and created two Vlans. I want PCs connected to the Vlan 1 get 192.168.0.x IP range and PCs in vlan2 get 172.30.171.x IP range. However, my router has only one DHCP. If I setup 192.168.0.0 DHCP for Vlan1, where I should configure 172.30.171.x DHCP? Can a router run two DHCP simulteously?

Sorry for the silly question but I'm very curious...

Thanks,

No link between Aruba and Unifi

Hi All, we have a new Aruba 5406R ZL2 core chassis switch and a Unifi 48 Port Gen 2 PoE Switch.

When linking both switches together via LC-LC MM OM3 Fibre patch lead I get no link. We are using a UF-MM-10G GBIC transceiver in the Unifi and a Aruba J9150D 10G SFP+ transceiver in the Aruba.

When inserting the Aruba gbic into the aruba core I get a green accepted light on the port.

I have also tried using a Unifi 10GB SFP DAC cable between the aruba's SFP port and the Unifi's SFP port but still no link.

Any ideas?

SoftEther Server DHCP for connecting clients only

Hi All,

I am trying to figure out a way to have the SoftEther DHCP to only issue to the connecting VPN clients. The system has been running great but I have maybe 30 IP addresses from my local network available. The default setup pulls a IP from the local DHCP server. We are now implementing a new system that will require an additional 100 remote users.  My local DHCP is 192.168.1.xxx. I would like if a VPN client connects to SoftEther that is gets a 192.168.30.xxx address and NAT to the 192.168.1.xxx network. I can enable the Virtual DHCP and Virtual Nat but then the 2 DHCP servers see each other and fight. I have tried port blocking UDP 67-68 on the SoftEther server but that doesn't seem to help. Has anyone been able to do this and can provide some guidance?

Thank you

Restrict Access To Websites Based Upon Network Connection?

$

Using Windows 10, Is it possible to restrict access to certain websites based upon the status of Windows Client VPN, or based upon the network that a laptop is currently connected to?

Basically, we want to enforce Client VPN at all times.  If someone chooses to disconnect from our VPN, we want certain websites to become blocked.

Basically, Deny all access to website.com, unless connected to specific network.

How to view devices in two different subnet and two different domains ?

Hello everyone ,

I dont have a big experience with VPN and i need your help with my situation

My company decide to connect the branch with the HQ so we decide to do that by VPN line we purchased it from the ISP in my country .

I thought in the beginning when we connect the 2 networks they will make ip conflict so i change some devices IP to prevent IP conflict and it was in the same subnet , but the ISP told me the 2 location should be in different subnets so i used 192.168.10.1 and 192.168.11.1

Both locations has a separated DNSservers with seperated domains .

Ping is working very well between both networks and i can login to any computer on both locations but by IP .

Users (windows 7 and 8 and 10)

Servers ( windows server 2008 & 2008 R2)

Is there a solution to view both computers when i open network from both locations ?

Datto v Cisco - Network Equipment

We currently exclusively use Cisco+ Meraki devices in our environment (Meraki: WAP's, MX84's for site-to-site VPN, Switches at one remote site. Cisco: Catalyst switches everywhere else, ASA5506 as our firewall/AnyConnect VPN for remote clients) and have never had a problem with them, they've proven to be very reliable. We're reviewing our MSP at the moment, and a contender has offered to manage our network, however they only work with Datto network equipment. They'd effectively want to replaceeverything Cisco with Datto.

My question is: How does Datto's network equipment compare to Cisco/Meraki? Obviously they're cheaper than Cisco upfront, but I can't find much that speaks to their performance or reliability. Anyone familiar with the product? I'll also go ahead and say I really don't care for it being "easy to configure," I'm a CLI guy...

Remote DNS Solution

I'm looking for ideas to solve a DNS issue we've come across recently. Here's the rundown:

Our DNS server is hosted by a local MSP, and connects via fiber to Site A. Site B connects to Site A via a VPN, providing it access to the MSP. The problem begins when Site A loses it's internet connection, as Site B then can't connect to the DNS server, effectively rendering its internet connection useless.

We discussed the idea of replacing Site A's ASA with a Meraki router located at the MSP, which would allow Site B to connect directly to them, however due to various reasons we decided against that. We've also configured the DHCP server to send 8.8.8.8 as an alternate DNS server, but it appears that Windows just kind of ignores the alternate server as it doesn't do anything once the time comes to make use of it. Any ideas? Ideally I'd like it...

VPN > RDP Working From Home Issues - Possible Virgin Media Issue?

Hi,

I know in the current situation many business may now be working the same way as we are currently so we were wondering if anyone else was experiencing similar issues to some of our users. It appears to be a Virgin Media issue from what we have deciphered so far.

We currently have users connect via VPN using a SonicWall NetExtender client.

Following VPN connection they then RDP to their work PC (using device name) which is situated in one of our 3 offices. We’ve worked this way on a smaller scale for years and had no issues with performance.

We have approx 150 staff although not everyone is connecting on a daily basis I would expect around 100 a day are. We’ve been working this way since late Feb.

Problems started occurring with 1 user in particular but over the last 6 weeks or so we have around 10 users who submit support...
