I've searched on google and here and have found no help, so I'm reaching out to my Spiceworks experts!
Here is my setup:
Cable modem to Cisco WAP (this network has all of our home computers)
Cisco WAP to Cisco 891W router, wireless turned off (this network has my lab, all wired)
Cisco 891W router to Dell PowerEdge T410 (server)
The goal: VPN into the server from anywhere else
Any insight into the topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I've got an AT&T 'mifi' and a Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 laptop.
The laptop will connect to the mifi wirelessly and get the correct ip address, default gateway, etc. However, I cannot ping the gateway or anything else from the laptop.
If I connect the same laptop to the same mifi with a cable, everything works fine.
If I connect the same laptop to a different WAP wirelessly, everything works fine.
If I connect a different laptop to the same mifi wirelessly, everything works fine.
Firewall is off.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled all network device drivers several times.
Turned off IPv6.
Flushed DNS.
Ran netsh winsock reset and netsh int ip reset c:\reset.log.
Of course ran MalwareBytes, AVG, CCleaner, tweaking.com Windows Repair Tool. Did fix a few permissions problems and corrupt system files but didn't find any malware/virus.
Also ran...
I have a Meraki MX60 and a MX80 coming next week. Meraki is new to me and I would like to set it up from the beginning with best practices. I am testing these first 2 MXs out before we decide to move on from our aging Sonicwall NSA2400s that we have at each site.
Would like a little help on setting up the network from someone that is experienced so that I can make he proper decisions at the start and not run into issues down the road.
We have 6 locations... to cover everything we would probably need 2 MX80, 4 MX60, and APs for each site. Not totally sure about the MX60s yet... may use MX80s depending on the MX60's performance.
After setting up the organization how should I set up the network... separate network at each MX site maybe? Think I seen an option for mixed devices in the network setup, should I chose mixed if I plan to have MX...
Hello there,
I'm trying to create a LACP link between a Windows Server 2012 R2 machine, a Windows 8.1 machine, and a FreeBSD machine through a HP ProCurve 2810. Each machine has 2x Intel NICs and I'm trying to create a 2GbE network using LACP between them. This is proving to be quite a hassle.
I'm using an Intel I340-T2 adapter on the server where I've teamed the NICs using Hyper-V's NIC Teaming interface. I used Teaming mode: LACP with Load balancing mode: Address Hash. I've read about an option Dynamic, but I cannot find that option under Load balancing mode. Both NICs show a state of Active under the NIC Team, with the NIC Team showing a status of OK.
Running Get-NetLBFOTeamMember command returns this:
Name:Intranet2InterfaceDescription:Intel(R)EthernetServerAdapterI340-T2Team:LambdaAdministrativeMode:Active...

Hi All,
I hope this would be the correct place to post this, if not can you let me know so I can move it.
I have an IPsec VPN setup between 3 of our sites - up until last Wednesday all was working fine without issue then out of the blue, one vpn will not connect at all.
The way it connects is below:
The part I am having issues with is the New Zealand to Australia VPN - it seems to fail at phase 1:

Guys,
I have CCNP TSHOOT Exam within few days...So I am a bit worried...
I was wondering whether debug commands are allowed for the CCNP T-SHOOT Exam?
I would feel much more comfortable if they were allowed.
Has Anyone tried to use those in the exam?
Hi
We have have a LAN of ~50 computers and the internet pipe is through an old Fortigate firewall (no web filtering and other features, just a 7yr old Fortignet 110C) to a CISCO 800 series router to the ISP. We are experiencing low speed internet issues so ISP ran test and mentioned they can see high uploads during business hours which is causing latency.
Now, I suspect that someone is doing something and I need to find out what's going on. What is the best way to trace which computer/s is sending/receiving the highest internet traffic? I dont want to install agents in all systems. Is something possible at router end or firewall end to trace the IP? I am fine with installing any recommended tracing software on my PC. I am not interested in webfiltering and monitoring at this stage.
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
I have a ZyXEL FW ZyWALL 5 that has a FW rule to accept WAN > LAN to port 3389 (RDP) but I have put in a source address to just allow access from that IP. The thing is that when I look in the log of the FW it says "Access Permitted" even for other IP's, shouldn't it say denied for the other IP's (question mark)
Kind Regards.
Hi All,
We have four pairs of fibre running into our comms room. At the moment we have 4 network cabs which are sparsely populated.
The plan is to move the 4 cabs into 2. The idea to start was to move all of the switches into cab 1 which has the fibre, however the cabinet isn't deep enough so the plan is now to move the fibre from the cabinet 1 to cabinet 2 which is around a meter away.
The fibre is all terminated properly so it is basically moving a glorified patch panel.
I would however like some feedback from the community as to whether you would recommend the move or just leave it as is.
Hi All
I'm New to VLAN, My Company have bought Two HP 1910 POE Switch to connect two of our officebranchesrunning on following descriptions:
Both of the Gateways/DHCP Servers are connected through two Separate "LinksysWRT120NWireless-N Home Router" on both Sides (Branches)for Internet.
I've configured both the Switches on following IPs:
Both of theswitcheswill be connected through CAT6 Cable.
The company requires me to connect both switches BUT only one DHCP Server from 192.168.10.1, so everyone on both branches will use Resources from both Gateways. (on Gateway: 192.168.1.1 some Static IPs are configured e.g. Servers, Printers).
As I'm New to VLAN and Layer3 Routing, I've consulted nearly all...
Apologies if this has been asked & answered, but I've had a good read.
I have a potential client who's been quoted 'crazy' numbers re a new server. The company uses Clik Service for the guys out in the field to log jobs / updates / digital signatures etc.
It requires a relatively modern (MS '08 Server onwards) server to run. The clients current machine is 10 years old minimum, and won't hack the new updates and iOS / iPhone apps that the guys in the field want to use.
Other than that, it's a 6 PC business that needs remote access to files and MS Office. If it wasn't for the engineers it would be a nailed on Office 365 company.
Any thoughts on a halfway solution or best of both approach?
I flashed a router some time back with DD-WRT and I need to access it to make a few firewall changes however I cannot log in via the GUI and the credentials I have for the device. I can however log in via Telnet using those same credentials.
Ideas? Help.
I need GUI access. Any help for making changes via command/Telnet will have to be very specific, not a noob but my Linux and command line are not expert level by no means (and not afraid to say it).
I need to know if is possible to configure VLANs on a HP1810-24 switch to manage two separate SSID to access internet. I have a TL-WA901ND TP-Link access point that permit max 4 SSID. My intent is define SSID1 for corporate users, and ssid2 for guest. Wired users can comunicate with wireless users from SSID1. Guest users can only go to internet. Where can I position DHCP to serve all users ?
Thanks.
A colleague and I moved a small rack in a remote room into a more secure cabinet and cleaned up a small rat's nest of tangled cables. The main server / network room and this remote room are connected by a fiber cable using the gbic connections of 2 switches. The problem is after we moved everything; we got no link over the fiber. The cable is a six-conductor cable and we have had no link across any of them. I am completely new to fiber cables / connections so I am wondering exactly how fragile are these cables? We tried to be careful with it, but we don't know why it was working fine, and now suddenly doesn't work at all. Any Ideas what we are doing wrong?
hi
im implementing voip (hosted in the coud) in one of our satellite offices that is consisting of two networked suites. they use gigabit switches but im thinking about replacing them with ones that have POE capability. just like the idea of not having to plug in power bricks for every phone.
the requirement is 16 ports on each with at least 8 of which are poe. any input is appreciated. thanks

I obtained aPEG6BPi6, which is based on the Intel 825676 (free, in a second hand server I purchased)
I've no way to log into the silicom website in order to obtain the management software to flash the card from bypass mode to normal mode (I don't see a "register" link anywhere), as I'd assume this is likely for the use of developers/manufacturers and not end users. Is there a way to do this from within the Intel PROSet software, or is there another software package/driver that can do this("easily")?
This is going to end up in a Sophos UTM btw. (Sophos recognizes it fine, I just can't do much with it since it's currently set to bypass mode.)
Or would I just be better off tossing it / putting it on ebay?
I'm using a Cradlepoint with a UML 290 air card then coming off that to my omp2 open mesh node. the problem I'm having is that I've throttled the data and cant to individual client controls. Any advise would be more than appreciated!
Thanks!
Now I just need to find a suitable name for the fella....
